Cupping therapy is an ancient practice that was first used in early 1500 BC in Egypt and Asia. We use medical grade plastic cups with a vacuum seal that is considered "Dry cupping". Dr. Neigert will locate the muscle adhesions and areas of soft tissue scar tissue that the cups will be placed. The pulling on the skin with the vacuum will stimulate blood flow and activates the immune system. I think of it as a massage from the "inside out." This is just one other way that we can attack your soft tissue injuries that comes at it from the inside. All other techniques come from the outside in. :)
Cupping therapy typically feels like a suction cup pulling on your skin, muscle, and fascia. Some people describe it as mild discomfort, while others find it soothing and relaxing—like an active massage. After the procedure, you might feel slightly bruised and sore.
